Meeting planned on circulating petitions

SHARON, Pa. — Jeff Greenburg, Mercer County elections director, will address concerned voters about circulating petitions for public office and election finance laws at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Sharon Municipal Building.

William Kirk, county Republican Party chairman, will talk about precinct committee positions, and a representative from the Democratic Party will talk about the 2008 national election for the presidency and congress.

The hourlong program will be followed by a petition-signing workshop.

Petitions for local candidates attempting to secure a spot on the April 22 primary ballot will be available in the county election office beginning today.

Petitions can’t be circulated, however, until Tuesday, and they must be returned to the courthouse by Feb. 12. The only local race this year is for Republican committee seats. No municipal or county races are on the ballot.
