Fundraiser set for ailing sheriff’s captain

BOARDMAN — The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department is holding a fundraiser for Capt. John Beshara, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain lymphoma. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ice Zone, 360 McClurg Road. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door or by calling Lt. Candy Guzzy at (330) 480-5041. A Chinese auction and silent auction will be held at the fundraiser. Donations can also be made to the “Benefit of John Beshara” account at any First Place Bank, said Deputy Glenn Kountz, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 141 president.
