YOUNGSTOWN — The fourth annual Game of Hope will be 4 p.m. Jan. 26 at Beeghly Center on the Youngstown State University campus.

The charity basketball game, which pits the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity against a team of local celebrities and dignitaries, is sponsored by the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Admission is $5.

Community leaders who will play include Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann, State Rep. John Boccieri, YSU Athletic Director Ron Strollo, Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, Mahoning County Commissioner John McNally, and Judge Mark Belinky of Mahoning County Probate Court. P.J. Fecko, head football coach at Cardinal Mooney High School, will coach the celebrity team.

Tim Chesney, an owner of the Mahoning Valley Thunder arena football team, and Scott Schulick, YSU trustee, will serve as honorary owners.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Arts Council’s 2008 Festivals and Competitions directory is available.

It contains detailed information about arts and crafts festivals and competitions throughout the state, including dates, activities, number of spaces available for artists to display work, fees and contact information.

The directory is a useful guide for artists interested in places to display and sell their work.

Hoyt seeks art entries
for regional exhibition

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts is calling for entries for the 35th annual Hoyt Regional Juried Art Exhibition from April 15-May 16.

The Hoyt Regional is open to all artists 21 years or older living within a 100-mile radius of New Castle.

Entries must be hand-delivered to the Hoyt on Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee for two works ($15 for Hoyt members) and $5 for each additional work.

Most media will be accepted within size and weight limitations, except video and installation work.

Louis Zona, executive director of the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, will serve as juror.
