New mayor presides at meeting

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Harry Kale did something he’s never done in his political career — preside over a village council meeting as mayor.

Kale, elected in November, succeeds Robert Carson, who did not seek re-election last year.

Kale served on council two years and before that was village zoning inspector. He is general manager of Tabor Landscaping here and a member and past treasurer of the New Middletown Lions Club.

A Youngstown native, he moved here in 1991. He and his wife, Jayne, have two sons.

One new council member also was welcomed Monday.

Anthony Didio, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native, has lived in the village since 1996. He is currently employed by Remco Security, Youngstown, and formerly worked as a police officer for the uniformed division of the U.S. Secret Service and for United Nations security. Didio succeeds council member William Douglas, who did not seek re-election.

Didio and his wife, Sandra, have a son and a daughter.

Also at the meeting, council unanimously elected Richard DeBucci as council president. The other council members are Dan Santangelo, Jack Novicky and Dan Stanton.
