Beaver Twp. to take bids for new roof
NORTH LIMA — The Beaver Township trustees are looking to replace a portion of the roof at the safety building, 601 W. South Range Road.
The trustees, at their monthly public meeting Monday, agreed to receive bids for the work, which involves replacing the roof on the original safety building but not the addition being constructed.
In other matters, the trustees are considering hiring a part-time secretary for the fire department. Officials said they are looking at creating the position because continued growth in the township has caused the workload at the fire department to increase.
They said they have not discussed a pay rate for the post but agreed it would call for the secretary to work up to 20 hours a week. They said they intend to discuss the matter further next month.
The trustees also agreed to hire area resident Randy Carr as a volunteer firefighter upon successful re-certification of his emergency medical services credentials. Volunteers are paid $10 for each emergency call to which they respond.
The trustees also accepted the resignation of firefighter Chad Manchester, who was recently hired by the Youngstown Fire Department.
The trustees hired David DiIanni as a part-time dispatcher pending completion of a background investigation. He is to be paid trainee wages, $7.09 an hour.
