Hubbard, Brookfield tied atop TAC
Maplewood beat Mathews in a key NAC contest.
HUBBARD — Brittany Bullock scored 18 points to lead the Hubbard High girls basketball team, which stayed tied with Brookfield atop the Trumbull Athletic Conference standings with a 44-29 win over Champion on Tuesday.
Michele Starkey added eight points for the Eagles (9-5, 7-1), who shot 16-for-22 from the foul line.
Jessica Nicholas managed eight points to lead Champion (0-14, 0-8 TAC).
Brookfield 55, Lakeview 34
BROOKFIELD — Kelly Jones led the Warriors (11-2, 7-1) with 15 points. Morgan Bonekovic and Kodi Brenner each added 10.
For the Bulldogs (4-9, 2-5), Joanna Novotny netted 13 points.
LaBrae 53, Girard 35
LEAVITTSBURG — LaBrae (7-6, 4-2) built a commanding 45-28 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Angelica Pugh sparked the Vikings with 15 points, six assists and three steals. Bayle Boggs chipped in with 11 points. Courtney Aldridge pulled down 11 of 33 rebounds. Chelsea Guerrieri led the Indians (1-13, 1-7) with 18 points and six of 27 rebounds.
Salem 40, Struthers 28
SALEM — The Quakers (7-4, 4-2) built a 31-22 lead at the conclusion of the third quarter and the Wildcats (8-3, 3-3) couldn’t catch up in the Metro Athletic Conference game.
Amy Scullion sparked Salem with 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Brittany Ritchie added 10 points. Kelly Roelen had four steals.
Dana Mathews scored 12 points for the Wildcats. Ashley Galbraith pulled down eight rebounds.
Ashtabula Sts. John-Paul 57, Warren JFK 48
WARREN — The Eagles (2-13) kept it close through three quarters 42-37, but Ashtabula St. John-Paul pulled away in the final eight minutes.
Paige Kleric scored a game-high 26 points for the Eagles. Jamie Kapferer, Malbry Johnson and Nicole Pawawski led St. John-Paul with 23, 14 and 11 points respectively.
Maplewood 43, Mathews 32
BAZETTA — Leah Dean scored a game-high 16 points and Maplewood outscored Mathews 24-16 in the second half to pull away for a key Northeastern Athletic Conference victory.
Michelle Sloan and Kristen Schwartz each added 10 points for the Rockets (15-0, 7-0), who hold a two-game lead over Pymatuning Valley in the NAC race.
Allie Stein scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs (7-6, 4-3).

St. Thomas Aquinas 25
LOUISVILLE — Amanda Stiffler had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead West Branch, which took a 26-4 lead after the first quarter.
Michelle Sosnick added eight points for the Warriors (7-7).
Lordstown 46, East Liverpool Christian 17
LORDSTOWN — Lordstown took a 26-7 lead after three quarters in a non-league game.
Karley Gibbs sparked the Red Devils (8-5) with 15 points and five steals. Brianna Blodgett added nine and pulled down five of 29 rebounds. Lindsey Harrison had five assists. Melissa Rinalei led East Liverpool Christian with nine points.
