Kettle campaign

YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Salvation Army’s 2007 Christmas kettle campaign raised nearly $200,000 to provide assistance to area residents such as basic social services, Christmas aid and feeding programs. Kettles were at various businesses Nov. 8-Dec.25 for the collection. Local organizations participated through volunteer bell ringers. More than 1,400 volunteer hours were given by more than 225 groups and individuals throughout the greater Youngstown area. The number of paid bell ringers was reduced from 2006, allowing more funds to go toward services.
