Authorities investigate death of Vienna man in Trumbull jail
WARREN — The Trumbull County Coroner’s office has issued a preliminary ruling that a county jail inmate being held for domestic violence died during the weekend of an accidental drug overdose.
Authorities are investigating the death of Adam N. Border, 24, of Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna.
Border was found dead Sunday morning. An autopsy was performed Monday morning, with the preliminary results issued later in the afternoon.
Border was arrested Saturday by Bazetta Township police at the BP station at state Routes 82 and 5 after he was accused of beating up a 23-year-old woman, according to a Bazetta police report.
Ernie Cook, chief deputy sheriff, said Monday that Border was discovered dead at 5:37 a.m. Sunday after he couldn’t be aroused when prisoners were awakened. He had been sleeping on a cot in the day room of the second-floor pod.
Cook said there was no trauma on the body. Border was alive at 4:59 a.m. during a bed check.
According to a Bazetta police report, the accuser said Border called her and wanted to meet her to apologize for something that had happened previously.
They met at the service station where the woman said she was assaulted, the report said. Border had an empty pill bottle with the cap off when arrested, the report said, but the name of the prescription isn’t in the report.
