High school quiz teams to compete at store

BOARDMAN — Local high school Quiz Bowl teams will compete in a “Spotlight Match of the Week” every Wednesday beginning this week at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road.

The competition, sponsored by the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, is open to the public. Rich Morgan of WKBN will be the moderator.

Each week will feature two area schools in a fast-paced academic competition. Questions will be read and points awarded to teams based on correct responses.

The competition begins at 4:30 p.m.

The schedule shows:

Wednesday: Chaney vs. Canfield.

Jan. 23: Youngstown Early College vs. Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.

Jan. 30: Jackson Milton vs. Campbell.

Feb. 6: Springfield vs. West Branch.

Feb. 13: Lowellville vs. Western Reserve.

Feb. 20: Poland vs. Boardman.
