SALEM — Free income tax preparation for people 60 and older will be offered by AARP at the office of the Columbiana County Office on Aging, 785 E. State St., on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning Feb. 5 and ending April 10. To be eligible for the service, income must be less than $70,000 a year and a maximum of five stocks or mutual funds. An appointment is necessary. Call the Columbiana County Office on Aging at (330) 332-1163 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Gardening workshops

CORTLAND — Ohio State University Agricultural Complex, 520 W. Main St., will have two gardening workshops in February, 9:30 a.m. until noon. “Iris: All About the Little Guys,” is Feb. 21; and “Emerald Ash Borer: What You Need to Know,” is Feb. 23. Association to meet

BERLIN — The Berlin Lake Association is holding it first meeting of the year at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield Town Hall. The public meeting will include information and discussion regarding the association’s proposed biking and hiking trail.

Academy seeks
donations for baskets

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The New Castle Christian Academy is seeking donations for its Basket Bash. The basket raffle will be held March 7. The school is asking for donations of items such as candles, toys, chocolate, pet items, as well as tickets for events, gift certificates and food items. They are also hoping to have larger raffle items such as bicycles, games, compact disk players and sports items. Proceeds realized from all donations will go toward educational costs.
