Two Hibernian members are recipients of awards

Sean MacBride Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Trumbull County presented the prestigious Commodore John Barry Meda to two members, Bob Cashman and Harry Kapouralos.

The presentation was made Dec. 12 in recognition of the outstanding academic, cultural and civic achievements of the recipients.

Lifelong friends since grade school, Cashman and Kapouralos have served the Hibernian division for many years and recently sponsored the Precious Feet Campaign, during which 1,300 Precious Feet lapel pins were distributed by members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians to educate people to the fact that all life is precious.

Cashman recently ended his term as chairman of Catholic Action/Right to Life. Kapouralos is continuing his service as the division treasurer.

The AOH, anIrish-Catholic men’s organization, was founded in 1836 in New York and currently has members across the United States and Canada. The Trumbull County division was established in 1997 and is named for Sean MacBride, a founder of Amnesty International and an Irish historian.
