MERCER, Pa. — Mercer County commissioners have given raises of about 3 percent to nonunion technical, clerical and support workers.
Last week’s action brings their wages to the same level as union employees who had negotiated contracts earlier, explained Bill Boyle, director of administrative services.
In addition to the raises, both hourly and salaried staff who qualify will also receive their usual step increases in 2008 on their anniversary date of starting employment. Hourly staff advance a step on the pay chart at regular intervals of employment, starting at six months. Salaried employees also advance a step every one to three years.
