No. 1 Connecticut 92, Louisville 71
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Maya Moore led five Connecticut players in double figures with 23 points and seven rebounds as the top-ranked Huskies remained unbeaten. Tina Charles had 19 points and 14 rebounds for UConn, Renee Montgomery and Ketia Swanier added 12 points apiece and Brittany Hunter had 10 points and nine rebounds for the Huskies (15-0, 3-0 Big East), who matched their best start since 2002-03. For once, however, it wasn’t easy. Though the Huskies never trailed, they didn’t dominate. UConn entered the game winning by an average of nearly 43 points. But some inspired play by the Cardinals (11-5, 0-3) kept things interesting well into the second half. Angel McCoughtry led Louisville with 30 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with 2:47 remaining. Keshia Hines added 13 points and six rebounds, and Chauntise Wright had 12 points and eight rebounds for Louisville, but the Cardinals couldn’t overcome 7-of-20 free-throw shooting and struggled slowing down the bigger, deeper Huskies.
