10 sentenced in Mercer County
A man was struck with a baseball bat and ax handle, causing a fractured leg and a ruptured eardrum.
MERCER, Pa. — Several people were sentenced this week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court documents:
Robert Christenson, 27, of Pine Hollow Boulevard, Hermitage, was sentenced to three months to two years in jail for criminal mischief, a misdemeanor. Christenson fired seven shots from a 9-millimeter firearm March 27, 2007, causing $1,000 damage. The incident occurred at a West State Street, Sharon address.
Matthew Hosey, 56, of Leslie Street, Sharon, was sentenced to 11 1/2 to 23 months in jail followed by three years’ probation for felony aggravated assault. On May 4, 2006, Hosey dragged a man out of a car on New Castle Avenue, Sharon, and struck him with a baseball bat and ax handle, causing a fractured leg and a ruptured eardrum. The victim told police Hosey beat him while robbing him of $90 and a bottle of prescription medication.
Charles Kirsch, 22, of Jefferson Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to two months to two years in jail for possession with intent to deliver, a felony. On April 19, 2007, Kirsch was apprehended on Euclid Avenue, Sharon within 1,000 feet of a school with 1 ounce of marijuana.
Cecil Robinson, 20, of Sterling Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to 3 1/2 to 10 years in prison for felony robbery. He and another man entered the Sharpsville Food Mart, 707 Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, Feb. 24, 2007, with bandannas over their faces. Robinson then pulled a handgun and demanded that the female cashier open the cash register and lottery ticket drawer.
Guy Simpson, 22, of Lucy Street, Masury, Ohio, was sentenced to 1 1/2 to five years in prison for felony access device fraud. Simpson used a credit card issued to another man to buy $698 in merchandise from Wal-Mart, 1275 North Hermitage Road, Hermitage on April 11, 2007.
Jeffrey Farris, 19, of Rocky Springs Road, Mercer, was placed on two years’ probation for one consolidated count of bad checks, a misdemeanor. He passed bad checks totaling $331 in November, 2006 at Country Fair, 205 N. Erie St., Mercer.
Frank Henry, 40, of Rooney Street, Greenville, was sentenced to six to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail for recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor. On March 1, 2007, he swung and slashed with a knife at two men in The New England Tavern, 160 Clinton Street, Greenville. Victims stated Henry became agitated and aggressive in the bar and became violent as he was being escorted out. He kicked open a door, pulled a stair railing off the wall and began slashing with the knife. When he said he was going to his car to get a gun, several people held him on the ground until police arrived.
Anthony Kirby, 35, of Stambaugh Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to six to 18 months in jail followed by two years’ probation for firearms not to be carried without a license, a felony. Kirby was apprehended April 3, 2007 at an East State Street, Sharon address with a concealed .45-caliber handgun. He is eligible for work release.
Royce Satchell, 18, formerly of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell was sentenced to 18 months to 10 years in jail for felony burglary. On Oct. 21, 2006, he and two other men entered a Fisher Hill, Sharon residence, pointed a gun at a man inside and demanded money.
Alexander Weilacker, 22, of Baldwin Avenue, Sharon, was placed on two years’ probation for two misdemeanor counts of retail theft. On Nov. 3, 2006, he stole a gold necklace and heart pendant worth $50 from Macy’s, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage. Two days later, he went back and stole $131 worth of pants and shirts.
