Linebacker/fullback Tim Murphy returns to Thunder for 2008


YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning Valley Thunder re-signed fullback-linebacker Tim Murphy for the 2008 season.

Murphy (6-foot, 240 pounds) appeared in 14 games with the Thunder in 2007. He had eight tackles and had 67 rushes for 343 yards to lead the team in rushing.

He also scored 14 rushing touchdowns, and caught 12 passes for 125 yards and two TDs. His 16 touchdowns were third-best on the team and following the season he was named to the All-af2 first team.

The Thunder signed two other players earlier in the week.

Marc Burr (6-0, 185), a native of Cincinnati, was a wide receiver at Urbana University. He caught 53 passes for 807 yards and 12 TDs as a senior and was named to the Don Hansen Football Gazette NAIA All-American team in 2006.

He was signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007.

The Thunder also signed WR-DB Marlon White (6-4, 210). White, a native of Macon, Ga., had 109 career receptions for 1,359 yards and 13 TDs at Vanderbilt University. He was named to the All-Southeastern Conference freshman team in 2003.
