Crash results in minor injuries for bus driver

AUSTINTOWN — A school bus driver was treated for minor injuries after bumping her head when a Mahoning County Mental Retardation and Disabilities bus struck the school bus.

About 8 a.m. today, the school bus was just beginning its route with one elementary school pupil on board, Superintendent Doug Heuer said.

The accident occurred on New Road just east of Turner Road. The bus driver was waiting to pull onto New Road when the MRDD bus, traveling on New Road, swiped the front of the school bus, Heuer said. The child on the school bus wasn’t injured, and there were no children on the MRDD bus, he said.
