With drummer healthy, Away from Eden returns
THE VINDICATOR
YOUNGSTOWN — Away from Eden has been away from the stage for a few months, but that will change Friday.
The Youngstown-based alt-rock act has been on a hiatus for four months to give drummer Mike Ezzo time to have major surgery and then recover from it. The band last performed at the Canfield Fair in early September.
Ezzo was born with a rare defect that left his spine malformed. Doctors had told him he would be paralyzed within two years if he didn’t have surgery.
The corrective surgery was done Sept. 6 at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Now that Ezzo is back on his feet, Away from Eden is picking up where it left off.
The band’s official comeback show will be Friday at Barley’s, downtown.
With their drummer sidelined, AWE’s recording plans were also moved back. “We were supposed to be having a CD release party right around this time,” said lead singer John Grahovac.
Rounding out Away from Eden are Lou Liguore, bass; Lee Liguore, guitar; and Kirk Sacela, lead guitar.
