Teen hospitalized, charged after crash
HERMITAGE, Pa. — A 17-year-old Hermitage youth was admitted to UPMC Farrell after he lost control of his vehicle in front of a Mercer Avenue bar.
A Hermitage police officer attempted to stop the juvenile at East State Street and South Buhl Farm Drive at 11:40 p.m. Monday because his vehicle matched the description of one reported to have been involved in a “shots fired” incident that occurred at Sharon-New Castle Road and Memorial Boulevard in Farrell.
The juvenile would not stop, and a car chase started, police said. The juvenile lost control of the vehicle and went off the road in front of the bar, rolling onto its side.
He had to be cut out of the vehicle by Hermitage Fire Department. Police said they will file these charges against the juvenile: fleeing and eluding, two red light violations, driving at unsafe speed, reckless driving and driving under suspension.
