Numerous charges after chase
MERCER, Pa. — A Youngstown, Ohio, man is in the Mercer County Jail after a two-state police chase and a standoff where he claimed to have explosives.
Yousef Abdel Adhami, 38, was arrested early Tuesday morning by Pennsylvania State Police along Pa. Route 318 just west of Greenfield Road in Lackawannock Township.
State police said they were first notified at 10:51 p.m. Monday that Hubbard Township police were pursuing a red Dodge Neon that was heading toward Mercer County.
Southwest Regional Police took over the chase in Pennsylvania and followed Adhami for approximately eight miles before he drove off into a cornfield. Adhami told police he had explosives on him and threatened to set them off, according to police.
After a two-hour standoff, Adhami was arrested. The Allegheny County Police Explosives Ordnance Disposal Unit searched his car and found no explosives, police said.
Adhami is charged with fleeing police, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and threatening to use weapons of mass destruction. His bail was set at $75,000 after he was arraigned by District Justice Lorinda Hinch.
