Cole ignites Ursuline’s victory
HERMITAGE, Pa. — Dominique Cole scored 20 points Tuesday to power the Ursuline High boys basketball team past host Kennedy Catholic, 67-62. Nick McCartney scored 16 points as Ursuline (7-3) jumped out to a 35-27 halftime lead. Dakota Trotsky had 11 points and George Williams 10.
For the Golden Eagles (5-8), Kyle Randall scored 22 points and made seven assists. Mike Pondurick’s 15 points came on five 3-pointers while Mike Klaric had 10. Andra Jones led Kennedy Catholic with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Hudson 58, Fitch 44
HUDSON — Andrew Warren scored 16 points and Jon Stockman added 12 points for the Falcons (1-9), who were outscored 17-10 in the third quarter and couldn’t catch up. Junior guard Kevin Myer scored 16 points for Hudson (5-4).
Canfield 64, Niles 34
CANFIELD — A strong defensive effort had the Cardinals (8-1, 4-0) in control 49-20 heading into the fourth quarter keeping Canfield tied for first place with Poland in the Metro Athletic Conference.
Matt Keating triggered the Cardinals’ offense with 20 points. John Manzioan pulled down six rebounds and he had nine assists. Ryan Frantz led the Red Dragons (4-6, 1-3) with 11 points.
Struthers 45, East Liverpool 38
STRUTHERS — Struthers (5-5, 1-3 MAC) took a 27-24 lead heading into the final eight minutes and outscored the Potters (4-6, 1-3) 18-14 to secure the victory.
R.J. Ragan and Nate Jacubec each scored nine points for the Wildcats. Nathan Howard paced the Potters with 13 points.
Lakeview 51, Liberty 45
LIBERTY — Trailing 25-23 at halftime, Lakeview pulled away in the second half against Liberty.
Robert Frank paced the Bulldogs (5-4, 2-1 TAC) with 18 points, while Craig McCumber added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Liberty (2-7, 1-2) got 11 points each from Isaiah Bell and Floyd Showers.
Youngstown Christian 72,
Cornerstone Christian 46
WILLOUGHBY HILLS — Youngstown Christian had a 29-point third quarter to pull away from Cornerstone Christian in the East Suburban Conference game.
Sophomore Victor Shaw and classmate Olonzo Johnson had 19 and 17 points, respectively Senior David Colbert added 14 for the Eagles, who converted 17 of 26 free throws. Of Christian’s 38 rebounds, Colbert had 11, Johnson eight, Caleb Yanno six and John Pecchia five.
Sam Radtke scored 16 points for Cornerstone (2-4) before the Eagles tightened their defense in the second half.
West Branch 67, Carrollton 49
BELOIT — Vic Pappas and Trent Woods had 17 and 16 points, respectively, for West Branch, while Michael Sellaroli had 12 points on four 3-point goals as the Warriors pulled away from Carrollton. Pappas added 10 assists for the Warriors (7-4).

RAVENNA — Matt Bright scored 28 points and Joe LeMon 10 for the Pirates.
Farrell 76, Sharpsville 39
SHARPSVILLE, Pa. — Junior point guard Marsell Holden made six 3-pointers en route to a 20-point output. Classmate Traphael Stubbs, a forward, added 17 points for the Steelers (10-3, 6-0 District 10). Farrell took a 24-8 lead after one quarter and cruised to its second-straight victory following a win over Mercer last Thursday. Josh Tyler’s nine points paced Sharpsville (5-6).
