Shasho to direct city’s public works

YOUNGSTOWN — Mayor Jay Williams plans to hire Chuck Shasho later this week to run the city’s public works department. Shasho, the city’s assistant commissioner of engineering, will be selected as the department’s deputy director, its top position.

Shasho is to earn $75,554 during his first year on the job. He replaces Carmen S. Conglose Jr., who retired Dec. 31 from the job he held for 10 years. Conglose earned $93,132 in salary last year. Conglose took the city’s early-retirement incentive.
