Mahoning Valley Thunder assigned wide receiver Jamie Goodwin
BOARDMAN — Wide receiver Jamie Goodwin has been assigned to the Mahoning Valley Thunder by af2.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Goodwin (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) played at Akron and Northern Iowa. In three seasons with the Zips, Goodwin caught 14 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown. He also had more than 1,000 yards in kick returns with a TD.
Goodwin transferred to Northern Iowa, where he played the 2005 season with the Panthers. He had 27 catches for 576 yards and four TDs, and had 661 yards in kickoff returns. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent and released just prior to the start of the 2006 season.
“The first thing you notice about Jamie is his speed,” said Thunder coach Mike Hold. “He has the ability to stretch the defense and open a lot of things up. We’re excited and hopeful that he can step in and help make our offense even more explosive.”
The Thunder opens its second season March 29 on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre.
