Bowker breaks scoring mark in Crestview’s win


South Range stayed
unbeaten in Tier One, while Leetonia upset McDonald.

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Crestview junior Chelsea Bowker broke the school’s career scoring record, tallying 26 points to pass Alisha Bable Auer’s mark in the Rebels’ 60-47 victory over Springfield in an Inter Tri-County League Tier One girls basketball game on Monday.

Bowker has 1,209 points, which bettered Auer’s mark of 1,199. Auer is now the volleyball coach at Crestview.

Bowker also had 14 rebounds and three steals as the Rebels outscored the Tigers 22-9 in the fourth quarter. Shanelle Davner added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Crestview (9-4, 4-3).

Rachel Kennedy scored 11 points and Andris Lyons added 10 for the Tigers (4-9, 2-5).

South Range 53, United 50

HANOVERTON — The Raiders (11-1, 6-0) took a 15-9 lead in the first quarter and held on for the win.

Autumn Carter scored 16 points and she had five assists for the Raiders, who have a two-game lead on Lisbon and United. Alicia Withers chipped in with 12 points and Patty Shuster pulled down nine rebounds.

Courtney Baker paced the Golden Eagles (8-3, 5-2) with 19 points. Maggie Sell chipped in with 11. Maggie Miller grabbed eight rebounds.

Leetonia 52, McDonald 45

LEETONIA — The Bears (9-3, 6-1) stopped the McDonald (11-1, 5-1) winning streak to take the lead in the ITCL Tier Two standings.

The Bears built a 28-19 lead by halftime time and the Blue Devils weren’t able to catch up.

Erin Lamb, who connected on six 3-point baskets, took scoring honors with 23 points. Dedra Currie chipped in with 10. Emily Dolsak and Joh-Vonnie Mosley led the Blue Devils with 16 and 10 points respectively.

Jackson-Milton 54, Southern 38

NORTH JACKSON — Alyssa Chine scored 18 points and Jillian Adams added 11 points and two assists to lead the Bluejays, who outscored Southern 30-19 in the second half to pull away.

Hannah Kelm scored 12 points for Southern.

Lisbon 47, East Palestine 34

LISBON – The Blue Devils (10-2, 5-2) took a 30-12 halftime lead and held off the Bulldogs (3-9, 1-6) down the stretch.

Emily Smith sparked the Blue Devils with 16 points, including four 3-pointers.

Mindy Jackson chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds. Bree Hull paced the Bulldogs with 11 points and four rebounds.

Sebring 49, Western Reserve 37

BERLIN CENTER — Julia Grimsley scored 24 points with four steals to lead Sebring, which took a 22-11 halftime lead.

Jill Bragg added eight points and 12 rebounds, while Megan Allcorn had nine points and seven rebounds for the Trojans (6-4, 2-3 ITCL Tier Two).

Melissa Burkey had 21 points and Claire Ferrando added six points and seven rebounds for the Blue Devils (3-9, 3-3).

Brookfield 50, LaBrae 29

LEAVITTSBURG — Brookfield senior Morgan Bonekovic scored all 16 of her points in the first half as Brookfield took a 32-7 halftime lead in the Trumbull Athletic Conference game.

Kelly Jones added 10 points for the Warriors.

Bailey Boggs had 10 points and 14 rebounds for the Vikings (5-6, 2-3). Angelica Pugh had nine points.

Liberty 61, Champion 44

CHAMPION — Liberty (8-4, 4-2) put the Trumbull Athletic Conference game away with a 18-9 surge in the third quarter.

Brittany Armour sparked the Leopards with 19 points. Chi Chi Merriweather added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Melissa Dykes finished with 11 points. Erika Stevens sparked the Golden Flashes (0-12, 0-6) with 18 points.

Lakeview 51, Girard 27

CORTLAND — Joanna Novotny scored a game-high 24 points to pace Lakeview (4-7, 2-3 TAC).

Casey Watson added eight points while Jessica Downs contributed 14 rebounds and four points to support the Bulldogs.

Chelsea Guerrieri had nine points and Katelynne Brainard eight to lead Girard.

Southington 49, Lordstown 39

SOUTHINGTON — Ashley Dietz and Kaylynn Barco each scored 13 points for Southington, which outscored Lordstown (2-5, 2-1) 11-4 in the fourth quarter. Laurissa Parson added 10.

Heather Wickline led Lordstown with 14 points. Brianna Blodgett finished with 10.

Farrell 75, Commodore Perry 22

FARRELL — Keveeda Myers registered 22 points while Chloe Stewart added 19, Tieshia Stubbs 13 and Dasia Chambers 10 to spark a balanced attack for Farrell (10-2), which stayed unbeaten in PIAA District 10 (7-0).

Farrell led by 34-13 at the half before enjoying a 41-9 scoring advantage in the second half. The Steelers produced a 30-8 goal advantage overall.

Dayton Meadowdale 69, East 59

GAHANNA — East was eliminated in its first game of a tournament held at Gahanna Lincoln High, losing to Dayton Meadowdale, 69-59, Saturday.

Uni’Qua Northcutt scored 20 points to lead Meadowdale, which led 46-40 entering the final quarter.

Brittany Taylor had 16 points, five steals and three assists and Deanna Williams 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead East. Brionna Dawson added 13 points and Reshayla Taylor had three blocked shots.
