Austintown man treated for gunshots

AUSTINTOWN — Township police are investigating a shooting on Cumberland Circle.

Officers who arrived at 3723 Cumberland around 1 a.m. Sunday found a man face down on his living room floor. Godfrey L. Gurley, 27, had been shot in the neck and back, the police report says.

Gurley told police he and his girlfriend had just returned home from getting food at a Mahoning Avenue restaurant.

Gurley told police he did not know who shot him, but told his father at the scene that he does know, the police report says.

A witness who was in the living room at the time of the shooting told police he saw a small male wearing all black enter the house just after Gurley and fire at him with a handgun.

Gurley was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center and released Monday.
