12-year-old boy charged with attack on teaching assistant

YOUNGSTOWN — A 12-year-old student was arrested at Odyssey School on Commonwealth Avenue after a teaching assistant reported being attacked by the boy.

The West Dewey Avenue boy, who had been disruptive in class, was escorted to a time-out room by the female teaching assistant Monday.

Once in the room, the boy scratched, punched and kicked the woman, reports show. He was charged with assault on a teacher and taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
