WARREN — Warren police are investigating the death of a 24-year-man after being dispatched to St. Joseph Hospital. Police received the call at 7:13 a.m. Sunday about a gunshot victim. No other details were available Sunday night. The investigation continues.
Jewish center to host
Dodgeball Tournament
YOUNGSTOWN — The Jewish Community Center is hosting its third annual Dodgeball Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday. Boys and girls grades 9 through 12 are invited to take part. Close to 100 teams participated in the event last year. The cost is $30 per six-person team or $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization. Teams can register by e-mail at lhsfreshman4@aol.com or at the center, 505 Gypsy Lane, from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on the day of the tournament. Members and nonmembers are invited to take part. Police find window
broken in church building
YOUNGSTOWN — Police responded to an alarm at New Beginnings Church, 3000 Market St., at 12:12 a.m. Sunday and found a broken window. Officers searched but found no one. The pastor told police it didn’t look like anything was missing.
Grant for visiting nurses
YOUNGSTOWN — The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation has awarded the Visiting Nurse Association of the Greater Youngstown Area a $25,000 grant. The grant will allow VNA to expand the services of a geriatric program that provides help to Mahoning Valley senior citizens. VNA is a United Way, nonprofit, nonhospital-based home health-care agency that was founded in 1904 to provide home-care services.
Baby Shower event set
YOUNGSTOWN — The McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road, is having its second annual citywide Baby Shower from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 21. All expectant and new mothers of children up to age 5 are invited to participate in lunch, games, prizes and other giveaways. Dr. Rodney Hill, obstetrician, will answer any questions or concerns and provide health information for mothers and children. Call (330) 744-4377 to preregister for the shower by Jan. 15.
