Two Austintown fires cause extensive damage
AUSTINTOWN — The township fire department was kept busy with two fires over the weekend.
The first, at 4:41 p.m. Friday, burned a house at 452 Wilcox Road, the fire department said.
There were no injuries. The tenant was not home when the fire broke out.
The fire started in the living room near the front wall of the house. The department said a battery charger started the blaze.
The fire department estimated damages at $25,000 for the house and belongings.
The second fire at 4:42 p.m. Saturday destroyed a vacant house at 6476 Fairview Road, the department said. There were no injuries. The cause of that blaze, which did $30,000 in damage, is under investigation.
