Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following activities: Monday, bridge at 1 p.m. and Spanish from 3 to 4; Tuesday, oil painting at 10 a.m., computer at 10 and noon and digital class at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, piano lessons at 9 a.m., watercolor class and computer at 10, computer and tai chi at noon and 500 card club at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and woodcarvers at 9 a.m., diabetic workshop with Dr. Azfar from the Foot and Ankle Clinic at 9:30 a.m., exercises at noon and square and line dancing at 1 p.m.; and Friday, Texas Hold ’Em cards at 1 p.m. and Joseph Knight Towers Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The “Traveling Social Worker” program will begin. Call the center to make an appointment. The center has applications for the SBC telephone discount program of $12.38 per month for eligible applicants. SCOPE Howland Senior Center, 8273 High St. N.E., Warren, will resume free public meetings of the Genealogy on the Web Club at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Kay Brady as instructor followed by lunch and a lecture by Emily Varner, Trumbull County archivist, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Participants will learn to retrieve and research family trees through county offices. Lunch of pulled pork sandwiches, salad and pineapple upside-down cake will cost $5. Among the other events scheduled are: Internet classes from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and digital camera lessons from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays for five weeks, beginning Jan. 14, registration is required; an Alaska slide show at 1 p.m. Jan. 23; a Mexico cruise Feb. 23; and the Philadelphia Home and Flower Show on March 3.
