WYOMING WINNER: Mitt Romney, right, captured his first win of the Republican presidential race Saturday, prevailing in Wyoming caucuses for a much-needed boost to his candidacy three days before the New Hampshire primary. The former Massachusetts governor won eight delegates, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson got three and California Rep. Duncan Hunter won one.
GOP DEBATE: Romney clashed with Mike Huckabee on foreign policy and John McCain on immigration Saturday night in a high-stakes presidential campaign debate three days before the New Hampshire primary. “It’s not amnesty,” McCain shot back after Romney criticized his plan for overhauling the immigration system. “You can spend your whole fortune on these attacks ads, my friend, but it’s not true.” Earlier, Romney criticized Huckabee for having written that the Bush administration was guilty of an “arrogant bunker mentality” on foreign policy. DEMOCRAT DEBATE: Democrats agreed Saturday night the United States has the right to go after terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan without first obtaining permission from the government in power. “As much as possible,” the United States should seek agreement from Pakistanis, Sen. Barack Obama said in the campaign debate. He said he stands by his declaration last summer that he would order action if he had “actionable intelligence” on bin Laden’s whereabouts. Former Sen. John Edwards agreed. “If I as president of the United States know where Osama bin Laden is, I would go get him,” he said.
KUCINICH ANGRY: Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, filed a complaint with the FCC on Friday after ABC News excluded him, fellow Democrat Mike Gravel and Republican Duncan Hunter from its prime-time debates on Saturday.
