Lawmakers list ’07 area grants


HARRISBURG — The following grants were given out by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development in 2007 in Lawrence and Mercer counties, according to state Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, R-50th, and state Rep. Michele Brooks of Jamestown, R-17th.

UBorough of Jamestown, Mercer County, $12,000 for senior housing project.

USheakleyville Community Volunteer Fire Department in Mercer County, $5,000 for replacement of overhead heaters and other improvements.

UShenango River Watchers of Mercer County in partnership with Jamestown and Greenville Lions Clubs, $5,000 for partial match of Department of Community and Natural Resources funding for a feasibility study.

UHempfield Township Supervisors in Mercer County, $10,000 for construction.

UGreenville Area Historical Society in Mercer County, $5,000 for building restoration.

UVolant Volunteer Fire Company in Lawrence County, $5,000 for truck repairs and refurbishing.

UGreater Greenville Softball League in Mercer County, $5,000 for baseball fields.

ULawrence County Regional Council of Governments, Lawrence County, $5,000 for proposed circuit rider economic development program.

UMercer County sheriff’s department, Mercer County, $5,000 for equipment.

UNew Wilmington Borough Police Department, Lawrence County, $5,000 for equipment.
