Man held in assault of girlfriend

BOARDMAN — Police arrested and charged a South Avenue man with felonious assault after his girlfriend filed a complaint with police.

Ross Crenshaw, 35, was taken to the Mahoning County Jail after he was arrested at 7 p.m. Thursday. There is no record of an arraignment being set for him at Mahoning County Court here.

The woman told police her ordeal began at 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the couple’s trailer at 4055 South Ave.

She said Crenshaw awoke her to accuse her of cheating on him. After punching, slapping and choking her, he went and got a large kitchen knife, she told police.

She told police he stabbed at her with the knife, cutting her right hand across the palm.

The woman told police Crenshaw held her at knife point for the next eight hours. She was able to leave at 11 a.m. with a friend.

The woman decided to go to St. Elizabeth Urgent Care in Austintown, where she met with police, the police report says.
