COLUMBUS (AP) — Gov. Ted Strickland is skipping an invitation to watch Ohio State University play in the football national championship game in New Orleans.

Strickland, a Democrat, will watch Monday’s game against Louisiana State University with family and friends at home.

Strickland’s spokesman, Keith Dailey, says the governor will watch the game like most of the rest of Ohio residents.

The university says 285 people accepted its offer to go to New Orleans, including Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. Attorney General Marc Dann said Thursday he was canceling his trip to attend the Saturday funeral of Cedarville police officer Casey Terrell.
