A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Dec. 28
Theft: An official from a utility department found that someone had removed the electric meter at a building in the 100 block of South Main Street.
Theft: Niles police held a Hubbard man on a traffic stop who was wanted on a warrant charging him with theft.
Theft: A front license plate was removed from a vehicle on East Liberty Street.
Dec. 29
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 500 block of Moore Street found damage to her rear enclosed porch.
Dec. 31
Theft: A woman reported the theft of several documents from her home in the 100 block of Fifth Avenue.
Jan. 1
Theft: A motorist failed to pay for gasoline before leaving a Speedway station, 806 W. Liberty St.
LIBERTY
Dec. 28
Domestic violence: Authorities issued an arrest warrant for a Girard man, 21, on a domestic-violence charge after the man’s wife alleged he punched her.
Dec. 29
Damage: A Logan Way woman alleged another woman damaged some computers at a nearby business.
Burglary: A Trumbull Court woman discovered someone had forced open her apartment door before taking a Sony PlayStation 3 game system, seven PlayStation games, a gold necklace and other property. The theft was estimated at $2,150.
Dec. 30
Aggravated menacing: Two members of a construction crew alleged a Lakeview Drive man became irate about mud they left on the road and threatened to shoot them. The resident told police he had been threatened.
Domestic violence: A Townsend Avenue man, 30, was taken into custody at his residence and charged. A woman said she sustained a minor injury after the man grabbed and choked her during an argument.
Theft: An Akron woman reported the theft of a laptop computer and a computer case from her vehicle while in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive.
Theft: A Colonial Drive woman told officers a man in his 40s claiming to be at her residence regarding roof work grabbed her purse and fled to a waiting vehicle.
Burglary: A man returned to his Ravine Drive home and found the front door had been kicked in. Missing was a vintage coin set and documents, for a loss of $8,871.
Dec. 31
Burglary: Someone checking on a Warner Road residence discovered a break-in.
Breaking and entering: The owner of a Frederick Street apartment building saw that someone had entered an apartment through an unlocked bedroom window. Among the items taken were two TVs, a computer, a stereo console and speakers, for a loss of $2,090.
Identity fraud: An Arbor Circle woman told police she received collection notices regarding two outstanding bills totaling more than $800 for services she never had.
Jan. 1
Burglary: A friend checking on the home of a Mosier Road resident confronted a suspicious person in the garage who fled; police found a broken garage window and that the residence had been ransacked. Several firearms and a 35-inch flat-screen TV were among the items stolen.
Drugs/stolen property: After determining a Chevrolet Cavalier had been stolen in Youngstown and pulling over the driver on Belmont Avenue, police charged a Youngstown man, 19, with receiving stolen property and drug abuse, crack cocaine.
Assault: A Hadley Avenue man told authorities an intoxicated friend struck the accuser in the back of the head and across the stomach with an object. The man had a small bump on the head.
GIRARD
Dec. 30
Burglary: A woman in the 900 block of North Highland Avenue discovered someone had entered through a front window and stole a $30 shirt.
Arrest: While responding to a report of three suspicious people on State Street, officers apprehended a 26-year-old Girard man and charged him with resisting arrest. He also was wanted on a warrant from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Drugs: A felony charge of corrupting another person with drugs was pending against a Girard man, 19, after police pulled over a vehicle near Ohio Avenue and said the man admitted supplying marijuana to the vehicle’s three other occupants.
Dec. 31
Theft: A man returned to a home he bought on Crumlin Avenue and realized someone had stolen 20 feet of copper piping and two spigot sets from the basement.
Theft: A St. Clair Avenue woman suspected juveniles of stealing her wallet from her residence.
Jan. 1
Assault: An Austintown man alleged a 33-year-old Girard man pushed the accuser during an argument about a custody situation. The Girard man said he was threatened.
Vehicle theft: An East Main Street woman reported her 1997 Mercury Caravan stolen.
