Democratic voters in the 65th Ohio House District will “settle this one” in the March 4

Democratic voters in the 65th Ohio House District will “settle this one” in the March 4 primary.

Well-known attorney Mike Harshman of Liberty will seek the Democratic nomination for the seat challenging three-term incumbent state Rep. Sandra Stabile Harwood of Niles, who is also an attorney.

In a little over a year, Stabile Harwood unsuccessfully sought an appointment to 32nd Ohio Senate District seat, a job in the Gov. Ted Strickland administration and an appointment to the 11th District Court of Appeals. If she had received the judicial seat, Harshman was going to seek the appointment to the House seat.

Harshman’s law firm used to run television commercials that would have actors portraying insurance company officials or lawyers who would shudder when Harshman’s name was mentioned as opposing counsel. The commercials’ tag-line was “Let’s settle this one.”

On the Republican side, Lyle A. Waddell of Newton Falls is the only candidate to file as of this morning.

The filing deadline is 4 p.m. today.
