Gettysburg 70, Grove City 56

GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Gettysburg (6-4) used a 15-1 run in the second half to win the championship game of the 18th annual Days Inn Tournament at Hen Bream Gymnasium. Grove City (3-7) led by as many as eight, 24-16, in the first half. However, Gettysburg eventually rallied to take a 33-32 halftime lead. In the second half, Grove City went eight minutes without a field goal as the Bullets stretched their lead to 54-39. Grove City closed to within 10, 54-44, with 8:19 left on a three-pointer from freshman guard C.J. Beatty. Senior guard Shannon Overdorff led Grove City with a game-high 18 points while senior forward Brittany Anderson added 10 points and six rebounds. Freshman forward Christine Slater earned All-Tournament team honors for the Wolverines after a 22-point, nine-rebound outing Wednesday night against Montclair State. Slater recorded seven points, six boards and three assists against Gettysburg. Tournament MVP Megan Hartman led Gettysburg with 14 points. The Wolverines will return to action Saturday at 2 p.m. against Presidents’ Athletic Conference foe Chatham in Pittsburgh.
