YOUNGSTOWN — An 18-year-old South Side man charged with shooting two people to death in Akron is being held on $2 million bond.

Marquez B. Perry, of West Myrtle Avenue, is accused of killing Tammy S. Dickey, 30, of Sharrot Road, North Lima, and Scott E. Smith, 33, of Akron. The shootings, suspected of being drug-related, took place around 9 p.m. Jan. 1, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Perry is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. He was arraigned Thursday in Akron Municipal Court, and bond was set at $2 million, records show.

In a plea agreement in July 2006, a prosecutor at Mahoning County Juvenile Court withdrew her motion to have Perry tried as an adult on a charge of participating in a criminal gang.

Judge Theresa Dellick sentenced him to the Ohio Department of Youth Services for a minimum of one year, suspended the sentence and placed him on probation, according to Vindicator files.

Perry was among 18 juveniles and 11 adults, members of three South Side gangs, who were indicted in May 2006. In the aftermath of the indictment, a few of the gang members were arrested again, most notably Reshaud Biggs, 21, Dion Weatherspoon, 19, and Johnathan Dent, 16, each charged with murder. Their trials are pending.

One teenager, Marvin E. Boone, 19, was among the victims of a quadruple homicide Jan. 29, 2007.
