BOARDMAN — Police arrested a 23-year-old Warren woman who’s accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a steak knife.
Taura Mitchell of Bradford Street Northwest was charged with felonious assault. She was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
Police were called about 3 a.m. Tuesday to the back parking lot of a West Boulevard apartment building for a disturbance. They found a man, Peter G. Hornbuckle, 26, of West Boulevard, standing near Camelot Lanes, not far from the apartment building. He was bleeding from under his left arm and on his right hand from apparent stab wounds.
According to a police report, Hornbuckle was disoriented and couldn’t provide information about how he suffered the injuries.
Hornbuckle was transported to St. Elizabeth Health Center, but the hospital had no information about him Wednesday.
Police found a 6-inch steak knife and several dreadlocks on the ground at the corner of the apartment building.
Mitchell called police dispatch from Warren to tell her side of the story. In her statement to police, Mitchell said that Hornbuckle had repeatedly hit her and she grabbed the knife from his apartment to protect herself. She said that he threw her to the ground and that she stabbed him to stop him from hitting her. Mitchell was arrested by Warren police and then picked up by township police and taken to the Mahoning County Jail.
