Lowered water pressure
Lowered water pressure
There will be low water pressure in portions of Austintown, Boardman and Canfield townships beginning at midnight today and continuing into Friday. It is occurring because of improvement work Youngstown is doing at its Webb Road pumping station, which requires the city to close the facility.
This will affect customers in Canfield and Austintown west of Raccoon Road and south of New Road, and from Mill Creek Park west to Tippecanoe Road in Boardman. The work is expected to be done at 6 a.m. Friday.
People in those areas are asked to conserve water during this time.

Dog euthanasia drops
WARREN — The euthanasia rate at the Trumbull County Dog Pound is dropping.
A yearly report provided by Robert Campana, the county’s chief dog warden, shows that the facility on Anderson Avenue in Howland sold 324 dogs and returned 100 to their owners out of 995 dogs handled during 2007.
That means the facility euthanized 571 dogs in 2007, or 57 percent.
Earlier this year, the pound reported that 86 percent of the dogs taken in were euthanized, which is double the state average of 43 percent.
Since then, improvements have been made at the dog pound, such as additional dog runs being built and repairs to the building. Trumbull County Commissioner Frank Fuda said he expects additional improvement in 2008, as the dog pound is enlarged.

The victim told police that he heard a knock on his door about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and thought it was a neighbor. He opened the door and let the man in before realizing that it wasn’t his neighbor but a man he said stole his wallet two years ago.
The victim told police that he picked up his wallet so that the man wouldn’t take it and the man shoved him to the floor, took the wallet, which contained about $50, and then ran out the front door. The victim didn’t report the crime until Monday morning. He told police that he waited because he didn’t believe the suspect would be found.
