Corrections officer faces drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN — Robert G. Anderson, a corrections officer at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, was arrested Wednesday on a three-count cocaine trafficking indictment, said city Patrolman Bob Patton, a member of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force.

Anderson, 36, of Francisca Ave., was stopped by task force members around 5:40 p.m. as he exited Interstate 680 at High Street.

Patton said Anderson, who has a concealed carry permit, had a 9 mm pistol that was confiscated during the arrest.

Drug sales were all over the city, beginning in 2006, but not at the juvenile justice center, Patton said.

More arrests are pending, he said.

Anderson, who has worked in the detention facility for about four years, will be arraigned in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
