The American Lung Association of Ohio gives these tips to help quit smoking.

Contemplate joining a stop-smoking program.

Research nicotine replacement and other quit-smoking products through prescription and over-the-counter methods.

Choose a reasonable time to quit.

Smokers experience various emotions when they quit, including feeling sleepy, excited, lightheaded, nervous or irritable.

Exercise every day, such as walking.

Get enough sleep, eat a balanced diet and drink plenty of water.

Seek help and support from family and friends.
