Policeman makes sergeant after 37 years


WARREN – An 37-year veteran of the police department has been promoted to sergeant. Michael Albanese, who was sworn in Feb. 1, 1970, as a patrol officer received the promotion because he was at the top of the civil service exam certified Wednesday by the city civil service commission. The department now as 15 sergeants, the number required by city law, said Gary Cicero, the city’s human resources director.
