Boardman man reports home robbery

BOARDMAN — An 83-year-old Melrose Avenue man reported being robbed at his home.

The victim told police that he heard a knock on his door about 8:30 p.m. Sunday and thought it was a neighbor. He opened the door and let the man in before realizing that it wasn’t his neighbor but a man he says stole his wallet two years ago.

The victim told police that he picked up his wallet so that the man wouldn’t take it and the man shoved him to the floor, took the wallet which contained about $50 and then ran out the front door. The victim didn’t report the crime until Monday morning. He told police that he waited because he didn’t believe the suspect would be found.
