Warren man faces charges in home invasion in Sharon

SHARON, Pa. — A Warren man is in the Mercer County Jail after being charged in a home invasion-type crime in the city.

Jauton J. Lee of Jackson Street is charged with robbery, criminal attempted robbery, burglary, criminal trespass, being a felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment, said police Chief Michael Menster.

Lee, whose age was not available, was arraigned Thursday before District Justice James McMahon and was in jail on a $100,000 bond.

Menster said police were called at 11:06 p.m. Wednesday to a disturbance in the 800 block of Ravine Place. A man, woman and three children live at the house, he said.

Lee is accused of forcing his way into the house at gunpoint after the man heard a knock and went to answer the door.

He demanded marijuana and money and threatened to kill the couple if either moved, Menster said. He said the couple indicated they don’t know Lee.

The man charged Lee and they struggled, Menster said. The woman hit Lee with a knife sharpener and then a baseball bat, he said.

The gun was knocked away from Lee in the struggle, and it discharged into a wall, Menster said.

Neighbors called 911, and police used a Taser on Lee when they arrived, Menster said.

Lee was taken to Sharon Regional Health Center for treatment of bumps and bruises suffered in the struggle, Menster said.

Lee is due before McMahon again Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
