Independent seeks Columbiana commissioner seat

LISBON — A Salem man has filed to run as an independent candidate for Columbiana County Commissioner.

Gregory A. Shaffer, of 910 S. Lincoln Ave., is seeking to run for the Jan. 2 term.

The position is held by Democrat Penny Traina of Wellsville, who was appointed to the position.

Republican Becky Burke of East Liverpool is also seeking the post.

Shaffer ran as a write-in for mayor in 2007 and received only 44 votes.
