Four Valley wrestlers chase state titles
Four Valley wrestlers won their semifinal matches Friday night and will compete for state titles Saturday night at the Jerome Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University.
Fitch High's Tony Jameson defeated Mentor's Evan Schreiner 10-5 in the 145-pound semifinals and will attempt to win his fourth straight state championship when he meets Tecumseh's T.J. Rigel in the finals. Jameson defeated Rigel in the 2007 state quarterfinals en route to his third state title.
Howland's Kyle Leek (125) and Greg Ryan (135)could both win state championships Saturday after winning in the semis. Leek will meet St. Paris Graham's Tucker Armstrong in the finals. Ryan defeated Alliance's Manuel Cintron 6-2 in the semis and will oppose projected state champion Chase Skonieczny (Walsh Jesuit) in the finals.
Beaver Local's Jon Bittenger won his semifinal and will wrestle for a state title at 160 pounds in Division II. He will meet projected state champion Eric Cubberly of Eastwood.
