Clinton, Obama surrogates to stop in the Valley today


YOUNGSTOWN — Gov. Ted Strickland and former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt were to return to Youngstown today to campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton,

The pair will meet at 12:30 p.m. with campaign volunteers at the Democratic presidential candidate’s recently opened Youngstown office, 3313 Mahoning Ave.

They will then meet with union workers at the AFSCME-Ohio Council 8, AFL-CIO regional office, 150 S. Four Mile Run Road in Austintown at 1 p.m.

The two campaigned separately for Clinton in Youngstown earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama, was to send Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President Kennedy, to the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., today. She will speak at noon with doors opening at 11:30 a.m.

Her uncle, U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., campaigned earlier this month in Youngstown for Obama.
