2 arraigned in child-porn cases

YOUNGSTOWN — Men charged in separate federal child pornography cases have been arraigned.

Dale P. Dattilio, 56, of Campbell was arraigned Thursday in Youngstown federal court. He is charged with receipt/distribution of visual images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, receipt/distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The indictment filed Feb. 13 alleges that a computer was used to receive/distribute the pornography.

Magistrate Judge George J. Limbert released Dattilio on $20,000 unsecured bond and appointed Youngstown attorney Damian A. Billak to represent him. No pretrial hearing date has been scheduled yet.

Special conditions of Dattilio’s release include that he remain confined at home except for employment and other court approved activities; undergo a mental health evaluation and take all medications as prescribed; avoid contact with anyone who is or may become a victim or potential witness in the investigation or prosecution; and have no contact with any minors. Dattilio is also prohibited access to any computer without prior approval of the court or pretrial services.

In an unrelated case, Ned V. Martin, 51, of Boardman was indicted Feb. 13 and arraigned last week in Cleveland federal court. He is also charged with using a computer for receipt/distribution of visual images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, receipt/distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

U.S. District Judge James S. Gwin released Martin on $25,000 unsecured bond and appointed Cleveland attorney Jaime P. Serrat to represent him. A jury trial is set for April 14.

Both cases are being prosecuted by Michael A. Sullivan, an assistant U.S. attorney in Cleveland.
