Poland schools are going to all-day kindergarten beginning next year with no fee. Kindergarten pupils will attend school from 8:10 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. daily. Registration for kindergarten will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and March 8 at Union Elementary, 30 Riverside Drive. Parents or guardians must bring the following, both originals and a copy for school records:

Child’s original birth certificate bearing a raised seal.

Child’s immunization records.

Proof of residency (mortgage documents, house closing papers or rental agreement).

Parent identification (driver’s license and two current utility bills or credit card statements).

Custody papers if applicable.

No registration papers will be given out before Saturday. A child entering kindergarten must be 5 years old by Aug. 1 to be eligible for admission. Those entering first grade must be 6 by Aug. 1. If your child attended another school for kindergarten and has a birthday after Aug. 1, you will be referred to the school psychologist before your child is enrolled.

A screening program is set for April 22 to 23. Parents will be given an appointment time for the screening during registration.

Children already enrolled in Poland kindergarten don’t have to register for first grade.
