Clinton, Obama surrogates in town Friday

YOUNGSTOWN — Gov. Ted Strickland and former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt will return Friday to Youngstown to campaign for U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.

The pair will meet at 12:30 p.m. with campaign volunteers at the Democratic presidential candidate’s recently opened Youngstown office, 3313 Mahoning Ave.

They will then meet with union workers at the AFSCME-Ohio Council 8, AFL-CIO regional office, 150 S. Four Mile Run Road in Austintown at 1 p.m.

The two campaigned separately for Clinton in Youngstown earlier this month.

Not to be outdone, the presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., is sending Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of President Kennedy, to the Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave. Friday. She will speak at noon with doors opening at 11:30 a.m.

Her uncle, U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., campaigned earlier this month in Youngstown for Obama.
