Canfield board OKs pact extensions

CANFIELD — The Canfield school board approved four-year contract extensions for the superintendent and business manager at a special session Wednesday afternoon.

The new contracts do not call for a pay increase for Superintendent Dante Zambrini or business manager Richard Archer, whose contracts now extend through July 31, 2012.

Treasurer Pattie Kesner received a 4 1/2-year extension through July 31, 2013.

Their salaries for the 2007-08 school year are: Zambrini $93,387 (including $12,695 for the education he received beyond master’s degree while he was a teacher); Kesner, $78,065; and Archer, $73,952.

“They do an unbelievable job,” school board president Brian Kesner said of the three. “They do more with less.”

The five board members approved the new contracts unanimously after an executive session.

The board felt it was best to have the contracts for the three to be “staggered,” which is why Kesner’s contract will expire one year later than the other two, Kesner said.

Pattie Kesner’s current contract expires at the end of 2008, while Zambrini’s and Archer’s contracts end July 31.
